Our Mission

sciCORE is the center of competence for scientific computing at the University of Basel. We operate a high-end computing infrastructure that is available to all university-affiliated professors, researchers, and students, providing services in high-performance computing (HPC), scientific data processing and storage—including support for highly sensitive data—consulting, and training.

We collaborate closely with research groups to implement innovative and efficient scientific computing solutions tailored to the evolving needs of cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research. The projects that we support span a wide range of fields, including life sciences, medicine, physics, computational chemistry, and economics.

As a central information service provider (ZIP) of the University of Basel and a core facility of the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics, we play a key national role in supporting the Swiss research community. As one of the BioMedIT nodes, we provide trusted research environments (TREs) for projects involving sensitive biomedical data, and play a leading role in personalized health initiatives such as  Personalized Health Basel and the Swiss Personalized Health Network (SPHN).
